The challenge
Our customer approached ABCloudz with an intent to develop a platform for people who enjoy playing tabletop games but want to bring this experience online. The goal was to create an environment where users can pick their favorite games to play without a need to hop through unnecessary hoops.
ABCloudz immediately picked up the idea of creating an accessible and cross-device compatible online gaming platform for users who want to enjoy a variety of games with high customization capabilities and elements of social interactions.
As the first step, it was decided to develop a convenient online version of people’s favorite word tabletop game Scrabble — Scramblegrams.
The approach
ABCloudz team created a web application with a responsive design that is adapted for mobile devices.
We used Node.js server-side platform and deployed it on AWS to achieve the benefits of scalability and resilience to the high traffic load. Additionally, backend communication was established through the use of WebSockets so the game would support real-time communication, similar to the Slack chat platform. Our specialists also integrated several external services such as ID Authentication, meetings, chat service, wallet, and support for 3rd-party game developers.
The app was also integrated into the GlobaliD platform, meaning that users need to register in order to play the game. GlobaliD also allows people to invite their friends to play together with no issues! The technology is also going to assist our customer with integrating other games into their solution in the future.

Our specialists showcased their flexibility to the customer’s requirements regarding the application’s functionality and completed the project within the set 6-month deadline. The customer was highly satisfied with the work provided and presented their game at a local game exhibition.
The final product is an online tabletop platform with features such as:
