A pharmaceutical industry leader, in partnership with the biopharmaceutical company, sought our expertise to improve the treatment journey for vitiligo patients. We developed mobile and web applications designed to support the use of the innovative vitiligo treatment cream. The application needed to be intuitive for patients, facilitating easy navigation and use. Beyond user-friendliness, the app required advanced functionality to manage personalized treatment plans, ensure adherence to medication schedules, and enable detailed progress tracking. Another essential aspect was educating patients on the correct and safe use of the treatment cream, necessitating the inclusion of a feature to convey crucial medication information.

Solution

In tackling the challenges presented, the team built comprehensive mobile and web applications catering to the nuanced needs of vitiligo treatment. A core feature of the mobile application, the Treatment Diary, empowers patients to document their journey, ensuring accurate progress tracking through consistent photo or video documentation. The application’s reminder system facilitates the timely application of treatment cream, with a built-in functionality for logging each application. This data not only helps patients adhere to their treatment schedule but is also shared with healthcare providers through a dedicated web portal, enhancing the oversight of patient treatment adherence.

Addressing the critical aspect of patient education on medication safety, the app features a warning banner that provides users with immediate access to essential medication usage instructions and safety guidelines.

To support these functionalities, we developed a robust backend using AWS cloud services, ensuring reliable data-sharing capabilities between the patient mobile app and the healthcare providers’ web application.
