Augmented Reality is a great app to “materialize” different pictures. This is a fun thing to play around with when you want to take a 5 min break, taking a bus ride or sitting in the waiting room. It can also be taken to a completely different level as a part of functionality of some different application. Augmented Reality is super easy to use. First you need to define an area where a picture, or to be more precise a “Marker” of this picture, is situated. This feature was implemented with the help of Open CV technology. Next, using the ArToolKit, the application locates the “Marker” and extracts its content. And in a few seconds, with the help of OpenGL technology, you get a 3D model of the picture you’ve just scanned.
